He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Matthew 16:15

Jesus asked a very important question of the disciples, and every person must answer this question in there own life. Who is Jesus?  Who do you say that He is?  Before Jesus asked this question, He asked another very important question.  (v. 13) “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?”  Unfortunately we live in a society that has become confuse with who Jesus is.  Many see Him as a cosmic santa claus there only to supply their wants, sure they say these things are secondary and Jesus is first in their life.  But it seems that if you need these possession to praise and worship him now what will you need to worship Him through out eternity?

Some see him as a Savior only, but not as Lord.  Living a life where they make their own decisions, asking for forgiveness without repentance (change of direction), but seeking to go to heaven when they die.

Some see Him as a healer only, seeking Him out only when they are suffering and then occasionally speaking at Him and not with Him.  Some see Jesus as a glory giver, and they seek to build a name for themselves while using His name, but Isaiah 42:8 tells us that the LORD does not give His glory to another.

Some see Him as a source of motivation, without mentioning that he died on the cross for our transformation.  “Whom say ye that I am?”  Peter answered (v. 16) “The Christ, The Son of the living God.”  And for a moment in time Jesus became flesh (John 1:14) and dwelt among us, He was crucified, and rose on the third day.  Jesus is the Christ, the One sent to reconcile us back to God.  He did this through the cross the only way to God. (John 3:14-15, 12:32-33)

To see God we must be Holy and righteous and that can only come through Jesus Christ and what He did upon the cross.

He is the one who takes away our sins and give us the desire to no longer live in them.  And then to do His will and not ours. (v. 24).  The thought of wherever the journey may leads us, is not our concern, but know that the journey ends worshipping and praising God for all of eternity.  (Revelation 21:3)
